[None Entered]SG 972 is a 5.5p commemorative that celebrates the Birth Bicentenary of Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775–1851) by depicting one of his paintings. In this case it shows the 1842 oil-painting entitled “Snow Storm - Steam-Boat off a Harbour’s Mouth”. The original is currently held by the Tate Britain in London and can be seen here. This particular stamp is in excellent condition with stunning, gloomy colour and little if any fading. The gum and face are clean, and the perforations in faultless condition.
