Description:

A4 Letter with significant tearing, folded into sixths. The outer cover has a pale war-issued King George VI onepenny definitive, and is addressed to: “E. F. Luckarift, Esp., “personal Service”, 55, Cross Street, MANCHESTER”

The letterhead reads “MANCHESTER ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE / FOR THE AREA COMPRISING THE COUNTY BOROUGH OF MANCHESTER / THE BOROUGH OF PRESTWICH AND THE URBAN DISTRICT OF FAILSWORTH.” It is from “PHILIP JACKSON, LL.L. CLERK TO THE COMITTEE (TELEPHONE NO. MOSS SIDE 2903.)” at the address: “ASSESSMENT OFFICES, 70 ALEXANDRA ROAD, MANCHESTER, 16.”. Dated “6 NOV 1946” and with “Ref: 4/14715b/10a” it reads”
“DEAR SIR(S) OR MADAM, Office No. 22. 55(4th) Cross Street, Manchester.”
NOTICE is hereby given that the Manchester Assesment Committee, after considering a Proposal for the amendment of the Valuation List for the Manchester rating Area in relation to the above hereditament, and the Objetcion (if any) lodged to such Proposal, has decided as follows:-“

“That the assessment be amended
From £96 Gross Value £77 Rateable Value Offices
To £18 Gross Value £11 Rateable Value Office No.22 Your Occupation.”

it is then signed “P. Jackson. Clerk to the Comittee”
