Description:

Bill issued “To Messrs Luckarift + Bart, 55 Gross Street, Manchester 2.” Bill “No. 15/110 by ROBERT R. BRIDGFORD F.C.A” of “10 Norfolk Street, MANCHESTER, 2” with “Branch Offices: Prestbury. nr. Macclesfield and Wilmslow”. It is dated “June 24th 194_”. Presumably 1946 judging by the date written at the bottom. Their telephone numbers are listed as 2500 and 2509 for BLAckfriars, 8372 for Prestbury, and 2832 for Wilmslow. It appears Bridgford (and sons) are “District Agents for The Leeds & Holbeck Building Society”.

The bill reads: “Messrs. J. R. BRIDGFORD & SONS respetcfully request payment of the Amount due this date to Trustees of C. W. BLACKLOCK at their OFFICES on the day of AUDIT, viz. 3 OCT next Arrears …”
“¼ Year’s … Rent (in advance) .. .. £5 — —
¼ Year’s Water Rent … … 5s 3d
… Year’s Eletcric Light .. …
… Year’s Gas Rent … …
¼ Year’s Contribution towards Air Raid Shelter … … 4s 7d —
Less Tax @ ... …
[Total: ] … £5 9s 10d”

A note thus states that the aforementioned “Received the above” with the King George VI twopenny stamp following. This stamp is overprinted with “[? ? ?] FOR J. R. BRIDGFORD & SONS” (Alluded by a simular example seen). It has been marked “5.9.10” (the value due). To the right a handwritten note reads “J.Hobbs 7.12.46”.

The footer reads “Al: Cheques to be made payable to Messrs. J. R. BRIDGFORD & SONS and this Note to be produced when payment is made.
