Description:

“The Guardian Angel” postcard, by GIESEN BROS & Co., number 01331/32. Postally used with a decent condition King Edward VII half penny. Almost certainly of the De La Rue printings, since the postmark year begins with a zero. The printed inscriptions reads “The ‘ROTOPHOTO’ Post Card. Printed in Berline. Published by GIESEN BROS & Co. London E.C.” plus, at the bottom, “R 0158”.

It is addressed to “Mrs. H. Ashall, 82 Tross St., Sale, Nr. Manchester.” and the message reads “My Dear, I so wish you ‘a very Happy Xmas + prosperous new year. Will write in a day or two. With fordute Love From H + T[?]” The obverse shows two young girls, holding hands and flowers, walking across a stream. A “guardian angel” is seen stood behind as if protetcing them.

The stamp is in good condition and appears pale, as expetced. The postmark is faint, but can be just made out to read “PORTSMOUTH / ?PM DE 24 08[?] / 5”
