Fair example of a plate 86, position OI, Penny Red with a large upper margin but all detail visible. Plate number is just readable, and the face is generally free from significant wear. Perforations and gum are excellent, with the watermark clear and visible. A previous owner has written the plate number at the bottom. The postmark is a two-part oval barred numeral cancel as used in London. The top letter appears - from what can be seen - to be a “W” which suggests the Western London district, with the office number beginning with a “4”.
Two-part oval barred numeral cancel: W / 4?
Large Crown (Standard)
