Plate 80, position CI, Penny Red with a nice deep colour and slight offset. The plate number, along with the watermark, is easily visible. The corner letters are mostly unobstructed and clear, while the detailing on the print is good. The perforations are fair, and the gum is darkened. ± The postmark is a duplex with the left-hand circular date stamp (CDS) only apparent by the very tangental edge connetcing with the barred numeral cancel. The latter aspetc originates from an Eastern (E) London District, from office number 16.
