Cat. Value (Adjusted Cat. value adjusted for condition:
Deeply shaded plate 125, position RD, Penny Red with three margins. This copy is on thick paper and is generally quite clean. The plate number is easy to read and the face details are otherwise good. Perforations are decent although some are short. The gum is blemished but not awful, and the watermark is easily seen. The plate number has been written on the back by a previous owner.± The postmark is a lightly stamped square-style barred numeral cancel. This shape indicates that it was used with Scotland. Unfortunately the office number is incomplete, but it does appear to begin with an “8”.
Square barred numeral cancel: 8??
Large Crown (Standard)
