Cat. Value (Adjusted Cat. value adjusted for condition:
Fair example of a slightly wonky Penny Red from plate 140, position EF. There is some fading to the face, but the plate number is easy to read. It has two good margins, and the perforations are decent. The gum is clean with a clear, centred watermark. The plate number - 140 - has been annotated on the back. The main benefit of this stamp is the excellent, thick oval barred numeral cancel which points us to the South Eastern (S.E) London District, office number 2. Unfortunately I know not where this refers to, but I plan to investigate further in the future.
Two part oval barred numeral cancel: S.E / 2
Large Crown (Standard)
ID#: 2163 (Used)
