Cat. Value (Adjusted Cat. value adjusted for condition:
Well centred Penny Red from plate 92, position DE. This copy, while showing good detail and colour, has significant perforation faults. The watermark on the gum is clear but the stamp itself is fairly thin. The plate number has been annotated on the back (the “9” looking more like a “7”). The postmark is a duplex which includes an oval barred cancel on the righthand side. This would indicate an England and Wale office. Unfortunately both the number and the circular date stamp on the right are faint and further detail is unable to be ascertained.
Oval barred numeral duplex: unknown
Large Crown (Standard)
