Description:

Heavily postmarked sideways duplex featuring a large style Carlisle circular date stamp with the insides contained fully within the inner circle. Dated to December 13th, 1855, this stamp features a fairly offset print giving a large upper margin. Unfortunately the detail is largely obscured by the postmark, of which it is best taken as an example of.

The stamp has been cut from a cover, but over the years it has presumably become damaged and the lower right corner has been detached. There is some discolouration and perforation damage in the same area. All being said, the postmark is well preserved.
