Cat. Value (Adjusted Cat. value adjusted for condition:
Lovely example of a spoon duplex origination from Liverpool on April 2nd, 1857. Both elements of the postmark are in excellent condition, and you couldn’t ask for it to have been stamped any cleaner. The stamp itself is a fair condition Penny Red star with corner letters KB. The perforations are in fairly poor condition, and the print is quite offset giving two large margins. Cut off a cover, it has unfortunately become damaged in its 170 year history. There is thus a prominent, discoloured crease running vertically through the stamp. The postmark remains well presented, thankfully.
