Description:

4½p decimal Machin with what could be assumed to be a "MANCHESTER" postmark. Dated as 1975 this particular example would have been used early on in this variants' lifespan, having only been issued in 1973. Merely a partial postmark, it is nonetheless well orientated and level and demonstrates a typical circular date stamp (CDS) plus cancellation bars.

These particular issues were printed by photogravure. Such printings can easily be seen under microscope, or by zooming in on these scans, due to a certain "fuzziness" along apparently straight lines. Naturally this is a result of the necessity of producing lines using only a limited number of curved dots.

This specimen has minimal damage to its perforations, and little to no staining or discoloration on the gum. The face is clear and shows a good amount of detail. The phosphor bands are present but not nakedly visible.
